One of the world’s leading and most recognised financial institutions, J.P. Morgan will take on a new role as Diamond Sponsor at Asia’s most awarded and highest profiled tennis tournament, the Shanghai Rolex Masters played at the iconic QiZhong Tennis Centre.

“This new relationship will take effect from 2018 Shanghai Rolex Masters. It is truly an outstanding partnership for both organisations and it is very exciting for tennis in China to have such an important global company supporting the sport here,” Tournament Director Michael Luevano said.

“J.P. Morgan has been connected to tennis and sport as a whole in other parts of the world, with a particular tennis highlight being with the US Open. Having such a prestigious company being part of our team can only be a winning formula.

“The Shanghai Rolex Masters celebrated its important eighth anniversary last year and now we are turning our attention to the tournament’s next phase in an effort to grow this award winning event even further.

“This announcement of J.P. Morgan joining us as a Diamond Sponsor is the first such step as we enter this exciting new phase and it is with great pleasure we welcome them.”

Tennis remains one of the world’s greatest and most popular sports. The Shanghai Rolex Masters is one of only nine ATP Masters 1000 tournaments and the only one to be staged in Asia.

Nicolas Aguzin, Chairman and CEO of J.P. Morgan, Asia Pacific said: “J.P. Morgan is delighted to be Diamond Sponsor of this world class tennis event. It’s one of the world’s most exciting sporting competitions taking place in one of China’s most dynamic cities. We believe that our sponsorship of such an important event demonstrates our commitment to this critical market.

J.P. Morgan has supported the US Open in New York since 1982, and expanding our involvement in tennis into other local communities around the world is a natural step for us. We look forward to working closely with the tournament in Shanghai and helping it develop still further.”

The Shanghai Rolex Masters will have total prize-money of $US7,655,640 with the singles champion earning $US1,136,850.
